You probably picture Tasmania as being a nice peaceful place. After all, it's full of natural reserves and it's not too crowded. But according to some the state's been at war for years over the issue of old growth logging.
I watched a video about logging wars in Tasmania. Loggers and environmentalist were fighting against each other for the old, strong wood of the Tasmanian forest. There was a lot of protests and marches by the environmentalist, sometimes they where violent. Sometimes the environmentalist actually sat in a tree so the loggers could not cut down the tree. They negotiated for three years to find a deal. Finally the environmentalist and the loggers made a deal that some could be cut down and others could not.
